This morning, the rain held off just long enough for us to head out on a river patrol with the Terrapin Guardians. Our mission? To spot some breeding terrapins near the nesting banks
Remember last week when those banks were completely submerged? The good news is, they were visible today! Still, the current was pretty strong, making our work a bit more challenging.
Swipe to pic 5 we found some fishing gear that had been washed up by the recent floods, still caught in the trees Sadly, one of our Guardians lost his machete while trying to remove a discarded trap, so we couldnt get the nets down this time.
We even tried casting a net to catch some terrapins, but ended up with a few small fish instead
Its all part of the mission though every small step counts in protecting the river terrapins! Big thanks to our partner @iucn_asap for their ongoing support
