Which RASMA activity or task pushed you out of your comfort zone the most?
Definitely collecting faecal samples from sun bears to do a scat analysis. I was deeply unsure how I was going to pull this off but when I saw my buddy crouched on the ground mixing everything together, I started to wonder why I was even so scared.
Whats one wildlife species you learned about during RASMA that fascinated you, and why?
I learned a lot about primates during my time with Project Monyet. Apart from the mischievous macaques, I knew little about primates and their plight as they get displaced due to rapid urbanisation and deforestation. The more time I spent following Peter (my mentor) going for primate spotting, the more these elusive creatures intrigued me.
Whats one piece of advice youd give to new RASMA participants?
Be curious and ask all the questions! The people you are about to meet and the causes they champion are incredibly inspiring. Engage with them, learn from them, and let them inspire you. You wont regret it!
Whats your favourite memory of working with the RASMA community?
My favourite memory has got to be volunteering for Dr Janes visit last year. Reuniting with all those who took care of and inspired me throughout my volunteering journey over the years as well as getting to know so many of the alumni filled me with so much joy and gratitude.
