She kept licking until only bone was left
She had no nameuntil the day we rescued her from Jalan Bintang.
So we named her Xing Xing, which means "Star" in Chinese.
Because even in darkness, she deserves a chance to shine again.

I dont remember when the wound first appeared on my paw.
I only remember the painshivering, unbearableand the silence all around me.
There was no one to help.
So I kept licking, again and again
Trying to clean away the rotting flesh, hoping it might ease the pain.

Day after day, I licked and licked.
Until the flesh disappeared.
And only bare bone remained,
Exposed to the wind, the rain, and the pain.

The rescuer posted online:

This stray female dog is extremely fearful of people.
She growls or runs away if anyone gets near.
She hasnt eaten for days, and shes getting weaker by the day.
Ive posted for help many times, but no one has come

Then one of our volunteers saw her photoand her heart sank.
We cannot just scroll past. We have to do something.

So she got in her car and drove alone to Jalan Bintang.

Thankfully, Xing Xing was still there.
And even more miraculouslyshe allowed the volunteer to gently lift her into the carrier.

At the vet, the results broke our hearts:
Her front paw was beyond saving, completely rotted to the bone.
Blood tests also showed severe anemia.

We dont know how she survived this long.
But what we do know is
She is safe now.

The vet immediately arranged an amputation surgery.
But the cost is a heavy burden on our shelter
The surgery and hospitalization alone exceed RM2,000,
Not including the long-term aftercare and nutrition shell need.
