https://doi.org/10.15560/22.2.253This study documents the first confirmed evidence of reproduction of the Southern River Terrapin (Batagur affinis) in the Kuantan River, Pahang.
The discovery started with a chance encounter by a local fisher (who posted a short video clip on Tik Tok), and led to the recovery of eggs from a sandbank along the river.
This finding reinforces something weve seen over the years (e.g. in Cambodia), that small, overlooked populations can persist quietly.
