Fuxing Has Been Discharged, But He May Never Walk Again

After spending some time receiving treatment at the veterinary clinic, Fuxing has finally been discharged and is now back at HOPE.

When we first found him lying weakly by the roadside, he was suffering from severe anemia, a fractured left femur, and serious spinal degeneration.

We named him Fuxing, meaning Good Fortune, because we hoped that after being let down by life for so long, his days ahead would finally be filled with a little more kindness and luck.

After further assessment by the veterinarian, only one of Fuxings legs is still able to move with some difficulty.

Sadly, he may never be able to stand or walk normally again. For the rest of his life, he will most likely require long-term care and spend much of his time lying down.

Surgery cannot guarantee that Fuxing will be able to stand again. Considering his age, fragile condition, and everything his body has already endured, we have decided not to put him through the risks of a major surgery with an uncertain outcome.

Sometimes, rescue does not mean helping an animal run again.

Sometimes, it means giving him a soft place to rest when he can no longer walk; gently helping him change positions when he cannot do it himself; and making sure that during his final years, he knows he is no longer alone.

From now on, Fuxing will remain at HOPE and spend his golden years with us.

Fuxings medical bill came to RM1,646.55. If you would like to help share part of his medical expenses, we would be deeply grateful. Every contribution helps us continue providing the care and comfort he needs.

We also welcome everyone to visit Fuxing at HOPE when you have the time.

He may not be able to walk towards you to say hello, but you can walk towards him, gently stroke his head, and call his name.

Once, Fuxing lay alone by the roadside, with no one knowing what he had been through.

But from today onwards, he will have a warm bed, people to care for him, and people who will remember and love him.

Fuxing, you no longer have to walk the road ahead alone.

And even if you can no longer walk, that is okay.

HOPE will stay by your side as you grow old.
